Central Cal, along the San Andres fault line. I may be wrong with my statements, it could be more. I tend to never notice them while everyone else freaks.

NYC shit brix, and was evacuated for the first time ever. Lower manhattan was evacuated, I was fine. Battery Park and stuff was flooded cause of the two rivers surrounding us. It didn't do much damage at all, it was mostly hype. A bunch lost power, I didn't. Mass transit shut down, which was fucking scary. There were no busses and subway. This might not mean a lot to the bunch of you, but to anyone living in manhattan that's like a huge deal. But yeah overall, it was kind of stupid.

I heard about the transit shutting down, that's fucking crazy shit. Alot of people don't realize just how MASSIVE NYC's transit is, the subway alone is a big, big deal.

On the 16th I went to NYC to visit my sister. From there, on the 19th, I went to Pittsburgh to visit my girlfriend. I was scheduled to leave on Saturday the 27th, but buses were canceled because of Irene. I rescheduled to leave Tuesday, tomorrow. When I arrived in Pittsburgh I found my already sketchy power cord to be now completely unusable, which is one reason why I haven't been on at all lately. I'm using my gf's laptop right now. Yesterday I heard from my parents back in Western Mass, as they were evacuating our house, which is immediately next to a river. Apparently some of the river bank fell away, and we were worried it would flood the house. They fled with our family computer, but not my Xbox, Wii, or any other of my extensive collection of games and gaming devices. My N64 and Super Nintendo are fairly low to the floor and/or on the floor itself, in bins that are open at the top. They put my pet turtle on a dresser in a high place, but did not take him with them when they left. My entire collection of Magic: The Gathering cards, something my friends have recently convinced me to get back into, were also left on the floor. More importantly, my writing notebooks, which arguably contain my life's work, were low, close to the floor. I spent yesterday freaking out and watching the news, watching the radar as the eye of the storm passed over Western Mass, wondering whether our house would still be standing or if I would hear from my parents that the entire thing had been washed downriver. A friend on facebook asked if a bridge that is half our town's tourist industry had been covered by water, and another friend posted an image of the dam in town, with the water absolutely rushing over it, rendering the dam itself impossible to see. I saw that NYC had been evacuated, and knew my sister was okay because she was now away on tour with her band. I finished the first Dead Space last night, and fell asleep wondering if "Tropical Storm Irene" would bring some mutagenic substance into Western Mass and if I would return to discover everyone I ever knew had become necromorphs.

This morning I awoke to a text message from my dad. Our house was fine, the basement had around 3 feet of water in it but was otherwise okay. My girlfriend told me Western Mass received the most rainfall when compared to the rest of the state. Looking forward to coming home tomorrow, knowing that all of my belongings are alright.
