no wait... look in the beavercreek boulders area... >_> there is no shadows there. why? is that maybe another part of the lighmaps bitmap? or maybe it does not render lightmaps at all? OH WAIT THERE IS LOST! THIS IS THE EPISODE WITH MILES' FLASHBACKS! WHY AM I STILL TYPING! AGHHGRGH

I don't believe lightmaps are involved. More than likely it's just a light source which is something you can set in most 3D environments. Creating shadow is not that difficult a feat.

yeah, it's known! but we don't need that!
i asked about lightmaps because for example, if you want to create a mod in b30a, there are some shadows somewhere in the map that in campaign correspond to trees, or c_storages, and having the lightmaps represented on the editor would be really useful. >_>
