Ghost Recon Clan?
Geforce is the video card. I think Nvidia makes that one.

I have always been interested in joining a clan...Been wandering round the wastelands of 'non-clandon' since [ENS] went 'tits-up'...hence the [ ? ] in my tag.
...SO if you nice chaps do get around to putting together a clan, will it be open to try outs? (...I have the full game, I just play the demo a lot as I love the 'Castle' map...)

[This is a bit of a continuation from my 'Life after GR - the next game' post elsewhere on the board...]
One thing this threw up was that 'RS III' looks like the way of the future BUT the required spec is a 733 Mac with a 32 meg 3D card...
Now I am sure there are some of you avid Mac gamers who say 'so what'? - but what you have to bear in mind that traditionally Mac computers have been slower to move to faster speed preocessors. The vast majority of Mac users holding on to their older spec machines much longer than the average PC user.
...The reason for this is quite simple - as a Mac Tech Support worker I can go out right now and bang together a decent PC games machine (AMD Athlon 2gig pro, GeForce 4 graphics card) for around £200! - The cheapest gig Mac with decent card I can buy is a eMac at £600!
You see the problem?
While it's a good thing that so many companies are porting over PC games at the moment, the down side is we are also inhereting the completely unnecessarily big game specs that come with them...
IMHO - if you designed a game like 'Rainbow Six III' from the start as a Mac game the spec for this game would be much lower, and the game would be just as good...
In support of my case I point to 'Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix' which I am playing at the moment too. This is a newish game (ported from PC) with a mid-range minimum spec (G4 400/16meg vid), and yet it crawls like a bastard, with really ineffieciant and unnecessarily over-detailed graphics.
'Ghost Recon' has the most efficient use of graphic memory of any game I have come across, making it very popular as an office LAN game...(Maybe 'RS' 1 & 2 are as efficient?).
The top and bottom of this means that we Mac users find ourselves in the stupid situation of the vast quantity of new 3D games that are coming out now being too high spec for the majority of Mac user's machines!
I would say that the average spec is still G4 400 in the majority of offices here in the UK, maybe slightly higher in the US (?)...Which means the recommended spec of 733 MINIMUM on new games is just mad!
(Rant over!)
