Finally Mac TeamSpeak!

Post by Dark uk » Wed Oct 12, 2005 7:57 am

afew years of waiting somone decided to save us: http://www.savvy.nl/blog/ *(soon to be open beta)

This means for you SOGians no messy Maratech hook ups + you'l be able to play on alpha server if no one is on GR.

Also means for any MMO fan that they can acctually join good teamwork guilds.

Only fear is that Evill's gonna get he slimy fingeres into it and ban us from using it.

Cool. Hopefully that guy's definition of soon is not the same as TeamSpeak's definition.

Get Premium if you want to use any kind of in-game voicechat while playing via GameRanger...

The In-Game voice chat on GR is very buggy, hard to use and annoying....

You're better off using Skype or Gizmo.

I can't wait for this!

Skype and Gizmo are bandwidth hogs, you're better off not using them. Same goes for iChat.

The In-Game voice chat on GR is not buggy at all, easy to use and not annoying at all. You can simply turn all-voice or team-voice off if there is some moron abusing it, which rarely is the case.
The only feature that's missing is VOX, so you don't have to press a button to talk. Evill knows about it, we'll see.

Not true. Also we shouldn't have to pay Evill so we can use apps that he has nothing to do with. Anyway I'm sick of this kind of arguments so yay teamspeek for Mac.

I'll try and keep you updated for when open beta starts.

In this case - you pay for being able to use any kind of in-game voicechat while playing via GameRanger. You should have to pay for using GameRanger in general, in my opinion, be happy that its main purposes are still free. I'm sick of freeloaders.

heh, who is this guy? Not the Civic I knew anyway... pitty that.

I'm not trying to be whiny at all, I guess I'm just spoiled from the way things used to be. I know Evill can do all these things thanks to being a monopoly, altought bottom line my morals differ from Evills, yours and many other people so no point arguing.

I cant wait till Teamspeex comes out, i will not pay gameranger another $50. Finally a VOIP solution for mac users to not get raped on, no more gameranger monopoly. yay.

I think GameRanger VOX are great, just not worth me paying some guy $50 bucks a year for. Now we can play on some real servers that require players to use Teamspeak, not to mention this'll make the Alpha Squad Stealth Recon Tournament alot easier on both our ends and the PC hosts/graders.

And it means I can FINALLY Voice chat with you guys Image (or atleast listen since I don't have a headset and my computer mic sounds like a train, just ask any [one] member).

This is completely wrong from my experience. The in-game VOX worked 99% of the time. The only time it didn't work was usually because of operator error. All you do is adjust the buttons for activating the VOX and it was set... no lame silence sensitivty or constantly hearing background noise. Just like Teamspeak will work, press a button to talk.

Skype and Gizmo both suck down over 50-100k/sec. That's not gamer friendly.

Nice one dark, would be happy to play some games with you when this comes out. My mic sounds like I'm in a train tunnel too. HAHA!

You're using an internal eMac mic, too? lol... terrible, speaking from experience. Had one about three years ago and had to use the internal mic for some weeks. Like a plane turbine in the background. :x

The internal mic on my laptop and on the iMac G5 i use both sound like i'm in a train tunnel, especially my laptop cause i put a faster HD in it.

But if i hook up my iSight it sounds alot better.

I don't know a whole lot about this thing so here are 2 noob questions.

1) Is it free?

2) Will it work with any game or just a specific game?
