ok i just want to know what people consider the top 10 video games of all time and y they chose those games

so heres mine

1. super mario bros series for nintendo, super nintendo, and nintendo 64
-invented the platformer genre
-best selling game of all time

2. pac man

3. tetris

4. pong

5. crash bandicoot 1 2 and 3
-first ever 3d platformer
-best 3d platformer

6. guitar hero series for ps2
-best rythym game ever
-never gets boring
-fun on all difficulty levels

7. grand theft auto series
- gets away with so much stuff by just using the first amendment
- fun to pick up and play and also fun after u beat the game

8. tony hawk pro skater
- first succesfull extreme sports game

9. goldeneye 007 for nintendo 64
-first succesfull fps game on a videogame console
-first videogame based on a move that was succesfull

10. gears of war - for xbox 360
-added a whole new experience in shooter games with its advanced cover and over the shoulder view

11. blades of steel for nes
- best hockey game ever

-the only game for xbox that was actually decent
- saved xbox from dieing

20. twisted metal 1,2, black and heads on for ps1, ps2, and psp
-invented the car combat genre
-most successful car combat game
- i played it 6 hours a day on weekends when i was 5,6,7
- i refused to go to religion and church because i wouldn't stop playing

i extended it to 20

1. Legend of Zelda Series-Hell yeah, first ever working non-password saving system combined with complicated dungeons and puzzles, plus all of the cool weapons

2. Super Smash Bros. Series- Because I can kick your ass with Falco, Samus, Roy or Marth, Captain Falcon, and Ness in no less than 5 games

3. Super Mario Bros series- generally same reason as above, it's also one of those "timeless classics"

4. Metroid series- Can't get much better than a hot chick in a space suit battling space pirates

5. Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo Tooie- I haven't played the newer ones for Xbox, but on N64 these games were the greatest

6. Sonic- Because blue hedgehogs can roll and three-tailed foxes can fly

7. Diddy Kong Racing- Just because magical elephants and evil space pigs can

8. 007 Goldeneye- Because cheating is funner when you can have big heads and paintball mode. Besides, shooting people in bathrooms is fun

9. Tales of Symphonia- One of my all-time faves

10. Starfox 64

11. Pikmin 1 and 2

12. Kirby Allstar

13. Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3

14. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

15. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Warrior Within, Rival Swords

16. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2

17. Animal Crossing, the original one for GC

18. Star Wars Dark Forces for Mac

19. Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life

...in no particular order. Some can be interchangeable, others are higher up, *shrug*.

Update: Yes, I kicked Halo off my list. And added a hell of a lot more. Especially of note is that last one.

super smash bros number 2?!?!?!?!

sure its a great game but really some one that has no idea what theyre doing could beat someone by just mashing buttons

atleast thats why i ddnt put it on my top

NOT true. You have to know how to dodge and whatnot. Button mashing would probably cause you to start dancing around and running/jumping all over the place and looking like a total idiot. Not to mention I've known newbs who button mash to sit there using up their shield "because it looks cool" and then they get shield sickness and get owned. It takes skill to wavedash and perform aerial attacks. SSBM was also the best multiplayer game for the gamecube. Period. Can't argue with the bestselling statistics either.

exactly u cant

so they tried to fix that with the wii but then u need to play with other people or its just boring and ssbm was way worse than just ssb

and this isnt for ur favorite game its for what u think deserves to be in the top 10 list of video games of all time and why based on sales, how fun it is, and what it was the first game to do

Let's get this straight: I don't give a shit about pac man, it spawned far too many shoot-offs and Mario Party rip-offs. Tetris gains my respect for first kick-ass puzzle game. Zelda's reputation speaks for itself, and your the first person I've heard of to actually praise it for having the first lock-on system. No one knows it just for that. They know it for the storyline, the legend, the gameplay, the items, the bosses, the dungeons, and the overworld. And the music. And what other games did you expect on MY top ten? Why the hell would I have games that AREN'T my favorites on the list?

5.) 007 Golden Eye

6.) Final Fantasy (I never got into Zelda)

7.) Civilization I from 1991 I believe. Pioneer in that turn-based games

8.) Halo
