English is boring, the grammar is irregular, and the irregular grammar is barely every taught and when it is taught the explanations given are poor. In less than one and a half years of taking Latin I have learned basically all the grammar that was SUPPOSED to have been taught in previous years. The California state standards tests are even stupider, since teachers will "teach to the tests," which have (usually) no grammar questions. It's pathetic.

That's part of why I like Latin a lot better than English. There is a lot more grammar and it get get really complicated however it is fairly straightforward. It's like the class I pay attention in. ^.^

they say the english language is the hardest language.
because we have so many words that mean one thing eg. huge, enormous, big.
and so many words that are are the same but mean something different in different circumstances eg. smoke (coming from a fire. or to inhale a cigarette.) or another word is mean (to be nasty) or "i meant what i said"
or words that are said the same but spelt differently and mean different things. eg. their, they're, there.

What about the British? (or as Mink would say, "dont call us british, thats ireland and all those little island. were english!") They at least dont speak french along with english. And it sure as heck isnt as cold or strange. you aussies dont get 24 hours of sunlight half the year and 0 the other... Then again, you both have expansive wastelands of tundra and dirt (one each, of course).

nope i dont really like the english.
well most anyway.
i find them snobby and obnoxious.
i find americans ignorant and racist.

now to come to my own defense.
i do not mean all english and all americans.
i mean the minority that i have met.
it is a vast generalisation. its almost like saying all arabs are terrorists.
so dont get upset anyone.
but im saying all english (cept one) i have met have been snobby and obnoxious.
and all the americans i have met have been ignorant and racist.
by ignorant, i mean that americans seem to only be concerned with what is going on in america and not the rest of the world.
ask an american where some place in the world is and they go "is it near japan? or england? africa?" lol well some.
well the same can be said of england.
i had a mate come from england. (he went back just 2 weeks ago)
his dad was high in the british army.
he was on leave from iraq and was at home in england.
when the boxing day tsunami hit, australia's media broadcast it straight away. they had like a death-toll of 100 then. but still the news broadcast it.
my mate rang his dad that night to tell him.
his dad had been watching tv all morning and still they hadnt shown it on tv.
when the deathtoll hit 200,000 then the british news went "OMG!" and broadcast it.
because it was outside their country in some dirty old 2nd world country, they didnt really want to know about it. until they realised it was the worst natural disaster in history ever.
more than 300,000 people died.
now that is ignorant.

i find aussies to be slightly ignorant of our own countries history.
americans learn the names of all the presidents of by heart.
most aussies would struggle to remember the last one we had.
we learn history of other countries but harldy any of our own. maybe its because we are such a multi-cultural country and the federation of this country is only 105 years old.....

say what you will.

ps. yes drac we have huge expanses of uninhabited land. its some of the harshest land in the world.
right now we are in a 1-in-100 year drought and it seems all of australia is turning into a barren waste land. lol
we have very strict water restrictions here now.
we arent allowed to use hoses or anything. we have to bucket water onto our garden. AND only allowed to do this every second day!
whilst where i currently live (queesland) is in drought, my birth place (darwin) is drowning in water! haha because of its location in relation to the equator, darwin receives monsoonal rains and cyclones. somehow we need to get that water here to queensland.
we had a very large cyclone this year that destroyed all our banana crops. bananas went to $15 bucks a kilo!!!!!!!

even with all this i still believe i live in the luckiest country in the world.
i dare ya to move here. anyone hehe.

nope i dont think everyone is, so you could be a nice respectful person yummy. or you couldnt haha....
its like saying that all aussies are like steve irwin.
the minority of americans that i had no pleasure in meeting made me generalize about all americans. oh and plus the movies.
and general opinion.
and the news.
and facts. and... nah jks.

i watched the movie "untied 93" last night. i will admit i had tears in my eyes in parts.
cause i was trying to imagine what i would do i that situation. and it comes out to be exactly the same as theirs...

I wasn't generalizing or saying you were generalizing, even though it sounded like it. I was saying for the most part, most Americans are the way you said they were...and I haven't met only a few people, I've met lots.
