i already know one problem with this mod

From far away it will look like a spartan
From close up it will look like the crappy mario model and the lets will not move

Am I really the only one thinking about bitmap changes on the grunt? Sure, "Mario" would be screwed up, but the proportions would be closer than a spartan.
