Online Halo co-op

Post by Crae » Mon Jan 04, 2016 8:00 pm

Hey guys! :D
quick question.
I have some family spread out across the country, and some of them I would love to play the original halo campaign with.
I was wondering,

How much time and effort do you think it would take to put some sort of online and lan co-op features into haloMD?

This question could seem silly, but I am very interested in this and would love to see it happen if it isn't too much work.
If it would be, I wonder how many people in the community would love to see this as well? Perhaps we could get some funding going for those who would know how to do something like this, and maybe, I don't know, set up some sort of pay by milestone after testing system?

What do you think?

It's impossible, AI doesn't sync when there is more than one player, stick to console versions of H1

It would be a lot of work and really buggy.

I've tried syncing AI, but I just, for some reason, can't sync the weapons, projectiles, or dialog sounds themselves. I can sync the locations, animations, velocity, and other stuff, though it requires an extra socket to be used.

Scripts won't sync, either, by the way.

This is me playing the Silent Cartographer on SAPP, for instance. I also tried it with nil, and it mostly synced for both him and me.

AI doesn't sync at all, not just when there isn't more than one player. You can see this when you try playing a game with AI in a dedicated server.

Dude fuck all that, can it be done in a multiplayer map? Fuck single player.

I've decided I would come back if I can make a bigass Zombie Apocolypse.

Since we got armor switching and shit now.

Thank for the replies :)
That was pretty cool what you did with SAPP! :D
When you both played together, was it playable?

Also I think your points for killing enemies idea is great 002 :)
I think it would be sweet if everything could sync up, to do 4 player co op or something, and have a point system like you said.
Everyone is competing for the highest score, and depending on how many players, increase the amount of enemies to make it more challenging.
4 players, 4x the enemies? :D
