How do I get most cheats to work in halomd?

Some cheats work like medusa, but I can't seem to get most of them to work like "Cheat_all_weapons".
Does anyone know a way to get them to work?

I believe they have been obfuscated by having one of their characters changed in the executable file. You'll have to use a Hex editor and open the exec, find the strings and replace the obfuscated character.

Executable files? Which ones? And what exactly would I look for if I use a hex editor? (Because I am not sure it would be obvious)
