How does Pearl work?

How does Pearl work?
So I don't really get the conversion process. Do i need to rename the file as a halo default map like bloodgulch.map to play a ce map? Or is it possible to keep the CE name and play it. A bit confused, I can't seem to find a step by step tut.
Re: How does Pearl work?
Depends on which version of Halo you're going to play the map on.
If you're using HaloMD, you can simply leave the default selection of "CE to MD," and you may also leave the MD names set to default.
The converted map will appear in your mods list in HaloMD for you to play.
If you're going to swap out a map in your original Halo full, change the selection menu to "CE to Full."
When it asks you to save, you have the ability to rename the map in the save file prompt. Whatever name you give it also gets applied to the internal map name that Halo uses.
So, if you want to swap out bloogulch, in the file prompt simply leave it "bloodgulch.map." If you want to swap beavercreek, save the file as "beavercreek.map."
Hope that clears things up,
