Server hosting for Halo MD
I am interested in hosting a dedicated for the HaloMD on a windows VM that I have running. Is there any dedicated server software that I would need? and is there any way the server could show up in the HaloMD lobby?
Re: Server hosting for Halo MD
You have to download the dedicated server software for Windows: http://www.halodemomods.com/wiki/File:Halo_Server.zip
Modify init.txt to change server name, insert a rcon password via sv_rcon_password as well. Copy your bloodgulch.map into the Maps folder there.
Run it. Make sure your server is accessible. Use something like http://www.poqclan.com/serverstats/inde ... &port=2302 (put your IP and port number in URL accordingly). If it's not accessible, you're likely encountering firewall or NAT issues you'll have to resolve.
Right now, it won't automatically be added to the lobby. You'll have to PM me your IP address and port number so I can add it to the 'dedi' list. Later I could figure out how to make it so that it will automatically just work. Another issue is that HaloMD comes with crossing (replacing infinity) and barrier (replacing boardingaction). If you use these maps, you'll have to be responsible for updating them since HaloMD is still in development - and they will be updated soon eventually.
[edit]: While also it's possible to use mods, there's no currently supported way of enabling them.
[edit2]: I will look into getting it to show up on lobby automatically.

I am no longer active to Halo or MGM, and don't guarantee a response on the forums or through email. I will however linger around the discord room for general chatting. It's been fun!

Updated http://www.halodemomods.com/wiki/File:Halo_Server.zip
This contacts MGM's master server now, but you'll still need to PM me your IP address (or domain name) and port number for it to show up automatically. (Haven't fixed this yet). On the other hand, this should (hopefully) make banning more effective. This should work as is, keep sv_public to 1.

Re: Server hosting for Halo MD
I've updated dedi software once again here: http://halomd.macgamingmods.com/HaloMD_Server.zip
It now bundles Phasor (a halo pc dedi extension tool), which allows us to run non-default maps, something MD makes good use of. Just put the MD maps in the maps folder and it should just work (unless the mod in question is not compatible with the dedi software, but most are).

Re: Server hosting for Halo MD
Is there a way to make a public server on mac? It'd really help if you'd reply.
Re: Server hosting for Halo MD
This is an old and outdated thread.
If you want to host a regular server, see https://www.halomd.net/help/
If you want to host a server through the dedicated software, which is harder to set up, see http://macgamingmods.com/forum/viewtopi ... 01&t=18567

Re: Server hosting for Halo MD
So, I've tried everything the halomd server said, except the UPD server ports, and thats because I have no idea how to access it. Can you help me with this?
