hey. i just got a PC, and i was wondering if i made my own mods on there, then converted them to demo, would it be considered ripping?

no not rllyyyyy its taking tags from someone elses map and putting it in yours. Hence ripping off the button of some black guys shirt and putting it on your shirt...

It's not ripping if you make it yourself. But we won't like you if all you do is make CE crap.

though it can't be bad to create some things in CE, can it?

i don't know, you could start off doing things in CE and then keep editing using eschaton! XD for instance, you could duplicate the seat chunks of a banshee using CE and then place them on the wings and giving them W-passenger string thing... and stuff!! O_O i don't know!!

anyway

well... >_> it would still be modding! just... CE modding! it is theoretically easier to get things done in there.
But still, Eschaton here can do almost everything a CE tag editor would do. :-\ what we miss is a tag creator, but we can duplicate and edit existing ones so i am not sure why we still keep being so hostile against CE modding. :-\

i'd understand hostility if we were still modding using hex editors or other ancient tools, but what we can do to maps is roughly the same as what CE users can do now, isn't it? o_O

I made two posts discussing this in Sparky's Blood Gulch Alternate Universe thread. I'd agree with Taxi in that perhaps doing some things in CE is okay, but keep on mind that we're doing Mac modding here. If you were to make something in CE, and then convert it to Mac, it doesn't change the fact that it's a CE production on a PC that didn't involve modding.

Mods are modifications of a game, usually in which elements of the original game are manipulated. In that sense, CE maps aren't mods since they create instead of modify.

Moxus makes a good point. If you make a map completely in CE and release it for mac it would be stupid. You should release it on halomaps, not here.

Although what taxi said is true. Using CE to help our modding is useful. Like me making a scen piece on CE because i need a specific one for a scen map i am making, or for making a sound tag.

But really, the more you use CE to make mods the less true modifying there will be.

There is always the modding that results in testing the map with friends and making updates with our Mac tools and releasing those updates, for me, anyway.

Not much has changed since I last posted stuff. I'm very busy, and when I have time I work on Pearl.
