Although new users have a tendency to believe CE refers to "Combat Evolved" the subtitle of the original game. They are unfamiliar with the distinction between HPC (a blanket term for both the mac and PC games) and HCE or the more common CE which is an abbreviation for (Halo) Custom Edition.

In other (simpler, prehistoric) words, some people think:
CE is Combat Evolved
Halo can be considered to have a silent *CE* in front of it
Halo CE is basically..Halo..
Halo CE Demo is basically...Halo Trial..(Windows)
Halo CE Demo (Mac) is basically..Halo Demo..(Mac)
