Portal is Free

Portal is free again, until September 20th. This is for those who missed the previous "free" period, so now's your chance to grab it. Even though Portal 2 is out already, its always worth it to grab this game, as we all know it.

i mean, seriously. A source game with pre-rendered ending. -_- is this 1990 all over again?
Otherwise it's cool. I LOVED the part when you fall in the older abandoned aperture science shafts. oh man, that game..!

Starcraft used sprites for it's units. And buildings, and effects, and doodads, and maps. And those were pre-rendered too. Your argument is moot.

Pre-rendered cutscenes are a bit meh for Valve and Bungie, but if it was rendered in Source then I think it's fine. Still sort of meh since its easy to tell the difference between the render and your game, unless you play at the settings of the render. But again, only if that scene was Source rendered, which I don't remember if it was.

If I had one thing to hate it would be inconsistent physics... You know the Faith Plates? Those have a special trigger that sends you flying on a pre-determined path. Fine by me, until you put that into the normal portaling parts of the game, where a jump from the same height using two different exits yields different fling distances. Urgh.... Valve -_-
It looks cool (like where you fly through the old Aperture ring) but annoys me.

I got hl2 and it's episodes when they were like 75% off when they got ported to mac.
