SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!

LOOK!

It's a matter of personal freaking opinion.

OKAY?

Some people like Wii, some PS3, and some Xbox 360. Oh well. What I've been trying to say since the beginning of this little war is that no one can shake another from their own opinion. It's impossible, especially over an internet forum. You might as well go try and have children with a mule. You can't make me not love wii, and I haven't really been trying to make you not love PS3 and/or whatever the hell everyone is fighting over now. So we might as well shut up and keep our personal preferences as our own, right?

Great. Now no more. Done. End.

Ok, I have a Wii. My dad got the Wii, not me. Wait... A kiddee console? I think not. It sells to ALL gamers, young, super young, our age (and by that, I mean teen), middle age, geezer, etc. Everyone loves it, except the pure hardcore 360 and PS3 fanboys.

Ok, so it dosnt have the best graphics. It dosnt have the best physics simulation. It dosnt have the best ability to calculate 849 projectiles flying from the automatic rifles of 47 highly advanced AI players, plus you blasting them to peices with destructable scenery. What it does have is gameplay, which in my opinion is the most important. I hate Half Life 2. Why? THEY RUINED IT. Dont add physics puzzles and scenery destruction puzzles just because you can... Add them where needed, and where they wont seem like the most obvious thing to do because the developers left it in. In my opinion, the only thing Half Life 2 was good for was Gary's Mod and holding up Valve long enough to get Portal out (which btw, looks better on the 360 than on the PS3, as well as HL2:E2 and TF2). I have been playing Half Life 1 (which I missed before) and it is 250x better than its sequel. GAMEPLAY MATTERS.

What is this garbage about Multi vs Single? Some of the best games out now are lacking in Single (Halo 3, SSBM, Battlefield and Battlefront series, etc). Others are almost completely lacking in Multi (HL2, HL2:E1, HL2:E2, Metroid 3, etc). There are the exceptional Single player ones (Halo 1, Half Life 2 and episodes 1 and 2, Metroid 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Assasins Creed, etc) that are meant for single player and are awsome at it. There are those meant purely for Multiplayer (Mario Party series is all I can think of). However, there are those that have both, but are just a billion times better when you are with your friends (Mario Kart series, Super Smash Bros series, Halo series, etc, etc, etc). The point is, if it excels in one, then its a good game. Those that work for neither are most likely trash.

You know, I consider myself a Mac fanboy. I will not stop on a Mac vs PC argument. I have a comeback for everything. I do the same for the Wii, yet I respect the other two systems. Yes, the 360 is nice with all its online multyplayer glory, and all its next-gen graphics first person shooters, as well as its good LIVE Arcade games. And I understand Sony for trying to make a powerful system. The problem is its so powerful nobody knows what to do with it and there must be a balance between time and money spent making and profit off the sales. Spend too much and end up with a bad game and you waste too many resources. Spend just enough and still come out with a bad game, then at least you didnt kill your company by putting everything into the one game that took so long to develop. Because of the amount you put onto that Blu-Ray disk, you spend more time overall developing. If you dont get money to cover that, you gain no profit.

Thats why the PS3 cant work. The game price must be high enough to cover the money spent developing. And to develop a great game with super next-gen graphics and gameplay, you need more time, and thus more money, driving the price up again. However, take Crysis for example. If the game didnt get all the approval, how much of a problem would it be for Crytek (the developer) because of the money spent? Point is this:

Sales > Money spent developing
therefore
Money spent developing kept minimized
so
Price of game stays low for buyers
meaning
less money spent on development
and
higher game sales (for a good game, not a piece of garbage)
thus
not as next-gen as it seems

But you know what... I think I might start liking the PS3. It is afterall, a fine piece of machinery.

No, wait...

I lied... Its just a very expensive paperweight. Oh yeah. And if anything, its the PS3's sitting in the warehouse so that the Wii's can be crammed onto every available shelf so that the 200 or so people waiting outside for opening on Best Buy's shipping day can snatch them up. Then its waiting for the next shipping day. Oh... BTW. Guitar Hero 3? 360 has plenty in stock. PS3 has way more than plenty in stock. Wii has... No wait. Uhh.... WTH??? THERE WERE 30 ON THIS SHELF 2 DAYS AGO!!! FREAKIN PARENTS DIDNT BUY IT THEN, NOW ITS SOLD OUT AT BEST BUY, AMAZON, AND EBAY SELLS THEM AT 2 TO 3 TIMES THE PRICE. On a lighter note:

lol, let's see if crack will shut the hell up now.

...oh, AFIK nintendo choosed to use a console based on performance this time.

i mean... they were ever trying to do consoles with awesome graphic (gamecube for example) but it was not ever sold like playstations or xboxes...

...this time nintendo choosed to do something completely New.
they did not add an high graphic processor because they want to keep it's price cheap.

Agreed. And Heavenly Sword is no better than that Jade Princess (or whatever its named) game for Xbox. Just better graphics and weapons that are almost like God of War's. And yes, Nintendo has NEVER been about graphics, only gameplay. Graphics in the games like SM:G and MP3:C are about the best there is for the Wii, and its enough for me.

Oh yea... I havnt been here because 1) My cousin, aunt, and grandma from Maryland were over for the past week, and Ive mostly been playing Super Smash Bros Melee and Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (HOW IN THE WORLD IS IT MORE FUN THAN IT SOUNDS???). Also, Ive been playing EvE or Half Life (the very original) on my alternate computer. Also, I may be getting a Macbook. Not sure if I want it or not... Even though its got 2x the power, it seems to run slower.. :?

I haven't been in General discussion for a while, and I just thought I would pop in and give my view.

One of the things which greatly bother me regarding some gamer's views on games is how focused they are on graphics. I, personally, would rather be playing a super-fun, low-graphics game then I would a real-life quality graphics game with poor game-play.

A prime example of this is Marathon/Aleph One. I can honestly tell you that I have easily 3 times the fun on a decade old game (which runs throughAleph One) then I do on Halo. There's no people trying to flame you or insult you, FAR less cursing, and best of all, a fast-paced game-play which actually makes me want to roll out of my chair laughing every once in a while. Times like that on Halo have only happened a handful of times. The fact that I can have such an enjoyable time on this game (which has rather poor graphics) as opposed to games like Halo says something truly about games: In the end, you're playing the game for the game-play, not the graphics.

Since I've also been talking about game-play, I should link it into the more main argument. I can also honestly tell you that if I'm going to play Golf, Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, or Boxing, I would rather do it on something that would let me move more then my thumbs to control the player. This is not an ignorant view from not playing the system, since I received a Wii for Christmas. The mobility associated with the Wii is probably one of it's best features, and enhances the secret holy grail of gaming: Game-play. I don't care if I can't see the 1 millimeter long scratch on Samus' armor, I care whether I can more more dynamically then before, and have a sense that I'm actually using the Arm cannon.

As Draconic said, Game-play matters. It matters a great deal, as we wouldn't have good games without good game-play. It's the stage-manager of the best games in history, and as such is commonly overlooked. When it comes to game-systems, I would prefer the one with the best game-play and user-interface, and from my point of view, the Wii has the most user-engaging game-play and user interface. I've played Halo 3 on XBox 360, and I actually found it difficult to control the two different nunchucks, and as a result found a really jerky movement. If I had a Wiimote, I don't have to worry about buttons for aiming, I can aim myself by movement.

The Wii doesn't have award winning graphics, or can't play High-def DVDs, but that's not what I'm looking for. I want to play games, not music, not movies, not pictures. GAMES! That's the most major fault in the other game systems. They have begun to focus on their systems as media centers, when the players are looking for GAMES! IT'S A GAME SYSTEM! NOT A DVD-MUSIC-PHOTO-GAME HYBRID!

Anyways, that's my spill. Do what you want with it.

-=Moxus=-

P.S. This is an opinion matter, just to be official.

Well, when I posted, it was that giant road helicopter thing.

Also, there is a reason why people still play the original Mario games. They are FUN, as in OMGJEBUSWOWZOMG im having so much fun. Not, oh look at the pretty bullet contrails as they strike the wall, showering debris and peices of it. Sure, thats nice, but if it has nothing to do with game dynamics or mechanics then its not worth having.
