Weapon Ideas

Here is a thread to post weapon ideas of MDT or if you would like to suggest one do so. Make sure it has relevance to the mod we are working on at the current time.
One weapon Ive been thinking of is a phosphorus grenade. All we would probablly need is retexturing on the smoke and a new grenade model. We would also need a picture of a phosphorus grenade from the Vietnam Era.
Although a pixalated picture, it can be seen here.

Long post ahead...
Remington 7.62mm M40A1 sniper rifle (5 rnd clip, 8x scope)Such a weapon is in Thumper's 7.62mm weapon mod.
http://www.snipercentral.com/m40a1.htm
I'll go ahead and be the one to copy/paste HKs site to this.
HK 9mm USP, .45 USP, .40 USP
9mm-15 rounds, .45-12 rounds, .40 13 rounds
http://www.hkdefense.us/pages/military- ... s/usp.html
M4/AG-C Combo (AG-C by HK)-An alternative to M203
http://www.hkdefense.us/pages/military- ... /ag-c.html
Everything else (G36, G36C, G36K is what I had in mind, but check out the XM8 and all the SMGs too)
http://www.hkdefense.us/pages/military-le/military.html
Good idea with the WP grenade. A modern WP grenade burns for 60 seconds, and in a related topic:
M18 Red Smoke, M18 Green Smoke grenades would be cool.
And I'm sick of the M136, so here's an M72:

Enjoy the rest of the site... MAT49, M20, Browning MGs, M79, M67 and Colt Commando look neat too!

Blade,
Nice of you to show guns, but Im not sure some of these guns were in the Vietnam war era. THe G36, G36C, G36K? Were they around? Also, had the m136 been around then too?
I just hadent seen them in many Vietnam films or read about them in books.
Wheres optus at and what is his GR #?

Well, hardly anything of what I posted had any relevance to the Vietnam war, except the M18s.
If I had GR with me, I'd tell you optus's ID.

One rifle I would like to see modled is the AR - 10A4 Carbine or the AR-10A2CQ. These are basically Armalite's 7.62mm CQB versions of the famous AR10.
AR-10A2 Carbine
AR-10A2CQ
With the latest 'fad' in tactical CQB rifles being to pack more punch in a small package (7.62mm super-carbine versions of classic models) the AR-10A2s should be a big hit!
(I've always been an AR-10 fan anyway!)

A gun Ive always liked is the SR 16. Its the special forces of the M4 carbine. Its carrying handle has been removed. A flip up site has been replaced as well as a rail for secondary features on your gun. Since there is a rail on the gun it is a great place for a scope. There is also a second handle for extra grip. But some prefer it to be on or off, since it can be moved.
SR 16 with scope:

Sorry, that was me as the guest above. I forgot to log in.
Also, the url did not seem to work so. Here again is the SR 16 without a scope.

Sorry for the inconveniance.

Very nice Ramone...
How about this guys (prepare to wet your pants...I did!)
DSA-58OSW - a select-fire "sawed off" FAL clone made by DS Arms (USA) for police use. Basically, a 'chopped' and 'tacticaled' 7.62mmx51 FN FAL!
A 'shorty' with real punch!

Has that been done before?
This isn't a weapon, but I was thinking of making the kits this, as in a US Army Rifle Squad (instead of rifleman, demolitions, sniper, support):
Squad Leader
Team Leader
Automatic Rifleman
Rifleman
Grenadier
The guns wouldn't be as varied between kits, but it would add (if done correctly) a different sense of tactics.

Hi Blade...
The FN 'shorty' (and the A-10 shorties) haven't been done before - the M4 series has been done to death and the SR16 (in various barrel lengths) has been done in a couple of weapons mods.
I like your idea for a tactical squad - this very much mimics what actually happens in a 'tac' team.
Auto-Rifleman could be the 7.62mm 'shorty' carrier - a nice beefy punch without having to resort to full-auto LMG.
Team leader: 5.56mm Carbine (M4 series or SIG Commando)
AR Man: 7.62m 'shortie' (A10, G3 chop or the DSA-58OSW)
Rifleman: longarm 5.56mm (M16A2, FN FNC or SIG 550)
'Grenadier': Grenade launcher/shotgun combo
Not sure about the title 'Grenadier' - really he is 'support', but people in GR associate this with the infantry support role (LMG/GPMG).
The team, you suggest is more inline with a 'tac' team (SWAT or anti-terrorist).

No, it's an army rifle squad:
US Rifle Squad
-Rifle Squad Leader (M16A2)
Fire Team (two per squad)
-Fire Team Leader (M16A2)
-Rifleman (M16A2)
-Automatic Rifleman (M249)
-Grenadier (M16A2 and M79 OR M16A2/M203)
Roughly. 'Course, everyone has a Colt 1911, and yeah, the M4.
Brings me to pop-up flares.

Any squad weapons' arrange is actually (potentially) an accurate setup. It all depends on the element's SOP. Every platoon has it's own way of doing things.
When it comes to a non-urban, operational environments, there's a greater need to fulfill a weapons' roster that is similar to what either of you have stated (Rifleman, Grenadier, ARman, T Leader, etc). However, in MOUT the situation is a bit more selective. Ideally, every member of the squad has a 16" barrel weapon or shorter and one member of each fire team has a shotgun. From personal experience, I'd favor every member operating a sub-machine gun (MP5, etc.) when in a CQB environment and possess lots of fragmentation capacity.

I planned out the kits to include several primary shotguns, a few underbarrel shotguns, and a machine pistol.
I disagree with you-MOUT is the optimum place for support roles (holding streets) and snipers. Once you're in buildings, you need the SMG-carriers providing point security. I also wouldn't mind a grenadier providing indirect fires, provided it was a squad of at least 6.
Plus, you could have a weapons squad-fire teams Alpha and Bravo would be full of two SMG carriers and one shotgunner each, then in fire team Charlie, would be an automatic rifleman, sniper, and grenadier.
I deleted your second post, don't take offense, I already knew about that site.

My mistake. My mind was too focused on the sole ingredients of a proper breach and clear team. So, yes, in the greater scope of a MOUT operation, external cover is needed for the protection of the team(s) that is/are seizing the interior(s).
In the real world of the Infantry, so much operational specialization exists that is can become easy to overlook the other pivotal aspects of what is going on when so much emphasis has been placed on focusing on one's particular role. Surely, this isn't as much of a mental error if one is in a position of command that is more greatly encompassing of the element. I guess what I'm saying is that this perspective I have is rooted in the fact that my sphere of influence is only as high as a fire team level...ah the life of a PFC.
Ok, I'm done. I dub this tangent over and wish for this thread to return to the topic of weapons' mod ideas.
