Do you guys use GameRanger to play Ghost Recon online?

Yes, but you don't have to. You can IP join PC or Mac games if you want.

But I think GR blocks outside joiners from getting into games hosted on GR by IP joining.

Yes, but that doesn't stop you from hosting a game outside of GR.
