Mac Gaming Mods

I suggest we push everything into this thread for updates. The aim of this is to minimize the threads pointing out every single big update, eg: HALLOWEEN UPDATE!! or Beta 1.3 update! Pushing everything into one thread will make things neater, and we won't have topics flying everywhere about new updates. I suggest we start using it from now and updates onward. Additionally it would be nice to see a mini-partial timeline of Minecraft's updates and development.


This thread will hold all up to date/rumored information of any update that happens in Minecraft.
You can contribute additional information, express your views, and reveal thoughts on whatever update discussion that happens here.

From the Beta 1.3 Update thread:

Huzzah!
The beta 1.3 update is coming out soon, and is rumored to have beds.
Beds allow you to sleep through the night until the next morning. In a future update, apparently, they will act as respawn points.
(These are all just rumors I found on the Minecraft forums, and a few other websites.)

I have heard that beds will be added, and has been confirmed. Not too sure about re spawn though...a lot of rumors on the forums.
The new launcher will be out! Yay! *you can download an unstable build for now. However the mac version doesn't seem to work (needs double checking, mine doesn't) and the Linux version .jar file will freeze your game if you adjust the volume slider (needs double checking).
Apparently, the BetterLight mod will be added to the update as well!

Redstone repeater blocks and delay blocks will also be added (not too sure if its this update though)

i wonder how will the bed work in SMP
I was thinking sleeping makes you go to dream land, and you do stuff there while you wait for it to reach morning again

^Wouldn't that involve a new world generation? I think its unlikely though.
I'm thinking it will be something like the game "Stranded". Sleep, loading bar for about 3 sec and wake up

Also I think beds will have limited use.

ugh beds kinda suck.
It's so freaking small. And ugly.

Considering that they can't be used as a use to be exploited lol.

Wool can be any colour!

smooth lighting are really smexy though

^I know! He took it from one of the mods.

Also, the new cliff and overhang epics are now because of someone's mod he implemented "Sca-something MCregion"

I think its time for you to get a custom skin thing. try googling paintlery pack.

Try it yourself. Instead of block by block lighting, it is a radial gradient lighting instead!

Also Doku's texture pack isn't bad too you know...but painterly has more customization

The smooth lighting also includes ambient occlusion.
