Too right Bunneh.
Also, lurking the Minecraft forums. Someone decoded a changelist Notch put on his twitter:

He downloaded Eclispe (program Notch used for the screenshot) and matched each letter.

The only thing I cared about were drawbridges elevators and disappearing doors. Now to go slime hunting.

Pistons will now be coming alone on Thursday for 1.7, along with some bug fixes. The Adventure Update is now pushed to 1.8, no scheduled release date yet.

Not sure… :-\ the pistons must still be powered somehow. (EDIT: i thought you meant a piston-made bridge)

unless… wait a minute… ·_·

Would this work?

You'd need a long piston.. Maybe draw bridges are just meant as in you can make a coil that will wrap chain/string around it.. but then a piston wouldn't be needed for an elevator either cause that'd be used. Hence why I put that question mark in there was 100%.

Well, I was formulating plans for my drawbridges and doors, and came to this conclusion:

Basically, you have a double-wide row of blocks as the frame for the drawbridge, four blocks high. Bottom to top goes a base block, wire above that, a sticky piston, and then a cover-up block which doubles as a fence. Same applies for the second row, which has a base block, empty space, the block that will be pushed out to form the bridge, and a cover-up block. create two of these facing each other with a two block gap in-between, and connect both wires to a common lever. Instant bridge.

Though what I think you're going for, Taxi, is a traditional drawbridge. The only way I can think of accomplishing this is to have an X amount of pistons for X amount of blocks the bridge will be. So if you had a five-block long bridge, you would have a row of five blocks and five pistons behind it. i.e.:

This brought to you by fail MS Paint.

Lol. Draw bridges aren't new, you can make it with trapdoors! Heres a screen of my creative world.

The wiring is hidden by the wood. Pulling the lever will flip the trapdoors open, dropping whoever is on it to a lava death. Im trying to install another lever at a shack behind or near the bridge so that IT also controls the trapdoor, but I'm not done yet.

Download my Creative Map to open up the redstone workings if desired.

As for Taxi's traditional drawbridge, pistons can only affect 12 blocks now. So sticky pistons will work easily, just lay 12 in front of each other, and a line of redstone along it.

1. It cannot.

2. Demonstrated with a secret door wall in the video released on pistons. Sticky pistons work fine, for the switch is able to close and open the secret wall door. Redstone wiring will be a bit complex for that, as you need one piston to pull another after the one behind it is pulled, as extended pistons cannot be moved. Possible

Did you look at my trapdoor design?

Watch the video again, IIRC at no point more than one block at a time is pulled by a piston. o_o

Anyway we'll just wait until thursday to see! (can't wait! :D)

You can wire it next to the piston then, though I'm sure that it can. Though my only experience with redstone were rails, which have their own special properties.

I just had an idea for a drawbridge, to allow it to automate itself.

If you have a row of vertical pistons underneath to retract and let the block fall (sand), then have a second row of pistons on the opposite side of where they came from to push the sand to its starting position, at which point they are pushed back up into their starting place.

I think that we might need some experimenting to do here.

holyfuckingshit. I have a guess...
The pistios will be on the ground ( I have no Idea how they work so this is a guess) and the block will be on top of the pistion. the redstone will activate and the pistons will go down, or vice versa
