So this can convert protected maps as well? This goes against everything that this, and many other modding communities have built. Think about it. Not only are we ripping other people's content from CE without their permission, in, I am sure will be, many cases, we are also ripping from Bungie. Now, sure, they may not be interested any more. But there's always a possibility. And that's enough for me to want to stop this.

^ Stop it guys your making me feel so damn important.
Now
I agree with andor though I still wish to have CE conversion, Mainly for my machinima. If i wasnt making Machinima i really wouldnt give a damn. If a Map is protected just ask the owner for an un-protected version. And 9/10 he will say yes. Just be honest, tell him your converting it to demo. And hell go..
Ok Sure, just gimme some credit. Guys THATS ALL THEY WANT IS CREDIT!

Oh no. The sky is falling. Stop the presses.
This application is no big deal.
Take this story:
Once upon a time, there was a huge oil industry that had a grip upon the industrial world and made billions of dollars every day from selling oil. One day, a smart man developed a way to efficiently extract hydrogen from water and used it to power his car. "Oh no," cried the oil industry. "He's going to ruin us - we have to kill him." So the oil industry killed him. But the technology lived on, and soon the entire world had a free, almost infinite source of very powerful energy. Everyone was happy, and the world no longer depended upon oil for energy. The planet's ecosystems thrived and global warming was understood more as the water vapors strengthened the atmosphere.
Shortly thereafter, spaceships and other spacecraft were built through the development of science and potent, reusable fuel based upon that smart man's invention. These things were made open-source, the schematics freely available to anyone in the world. Did businesses suffer? No, instead, they became more and more inventive and their ingenuity grew as greater and more efficient methods of space travel were developed.
The moral of the story is this: Do not bury your inventions and discoveries, because there may be a time when they are used for great purposes. There may also be a time when you need them and they are no longer there. And we all know how bad that situation can be.
Don't be afraid of this CE to demo application. After all, the modding community will know when they are playing a CE map. Why bury this tool when what you really want to do is bury its abuse? Don't ruin this for the rest of us who are responsible and enjoy modding. And porting a CE map to demo is not wrong, so long as the map creator retains what credit the modding community can provide him or her - remember, the Intellectual Property still belongs to MS/Bungie/GearBox, so think of all our modding as promotional rather than stealing. And if you think that adding full/ce content to demo will mean people will no longer want to buy the full/ce version, then think about that story I told you, where business and inventions thrived on the foundation set by the open-source free energy community. Surely, when demo players play cool new maps, most will want to buy full/ce so they can make their own new maps. How many halo demo players have asked you, "how do you mod?" Wouldn't it be great to say, "this map was made with halo ce," so then they will go ahead and buy halo full / halo ce so they can mod halo demo? Of course, our regular methods of demo modding would continue, and modding, in general, would thrive.

Either you are groping for answers, or you are asking God and listening to Jesus.

All that shows is that because of our slowness to contain the knowledge of this program we may have sealed the fate of our community. That does not mean however that we can not try to do our best to contain it as much as we can and show that we do not support this possible destruction of the Halo Demo community.
