You are *suppose* to have at least two Library folders. One system-wide, the other user specific. iPod opening iPhoto is a behavior you would want for cameras. Anyway, you can turn that off in either iPhoto preferences or something in image capture, or somewhere else. You can try reinstalling the OS, but you have enough hardware issues that i'd want to buy a new Mac if I were you. I'd also grab a new TI-89; x button being broken is kind of lame, though I suppose you can get by without using it.. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that you are very unlucky
