i need some modding help

i have hex edit and i have read some of the modding guides, but i still cant figure out how to do anything. all programs except hex edit dont work. i really want to try something. help please?

im just waiting for all the replies to this post!!!! just experiment with the program. also the other applications you are talking about might need the full bloodgulch header in order to work.

i tried changing ammo needler with flamethrower, but no luck. i dont know what works and what doesnt

well if you are swapping the projectile you must switch the two of them. if you are trying to replace where you should be swapping the game will crash.

ok. so i took out the pistol meta, and put in tank shells instead of bullets through hex edit, inserted the meta back in, and changed the first 800 bits back to normal. i tried the game and it quit when i tried. anyone have any ideas? im going crazy!

you are making this harder than it really is. just use hexedit.

MEH! It seems people are using these cheesy prograrms more than hexedit. For just about any mod (unless you're skinning or model editing), all you need is hexedit. You don't need HMT to swap meta! Learn the map, then use those programs to save time. But, you won't be able to use the programs if you don't understand the map.

The only time I use HMT or HHK is for skinning and Export->import. And a few other minor stuff.

Normally I wouldnt agree on this, but now that I did do it, I am. Just like everybody else has said, experiement!! When I first started I got mad at people who said that and I thought I was hopeless, but when I actually tried it after a while, I got it. So please start experimenting. Also, read other posts too for tuts and other things to help you. You will be surprised - just like I was.
