Could the "Ghosts" of Halo really be AI?

Post by Monk34 » Thu Mar 05, 2009 3:34 pm

I mean, when you take out all of the stupid rumors and theories, the "Ghosts" sound almost exactly like AIs with no turning animations. I am refering to this article.

Plus, I have always been interested in strange occurences(sp?) in Halo, ever since when my friend and I were playing offline on the map "Waterworks". My friend got shot in the head by a sniper shot from the ceiling. I didn't have a sniper, and this took place before I got XBL. I mean, I don't even know if it's possible to make shots come from the ceiling with an AI, and Bungie probably didn't put invisible AI everywhere on the map, but it's a fun and sometimes rewarding search if you look hard enough for them. You may even find some easter eggs while your at it.

... There is a video of someone forging Foundry, offline. He hadnt done anything yet and a grenade flew out of nowhere 30 ft in the air. If there was invisible AI, it would have showed in the code. Im thinking its a glitch in Halo that somehow tells the game a grenade has been thrown. Or that the AI Marines that were supposed to spawn havnt. 8 times in a row.

...Now I cant find the video. That sucks.

EDIT: HAHA!

Code: Select all

i don't know how the game works.
-so-
i do not create a theory.
^ now, that is how people should think. ¬_¬ but... yeah...

PS: wraith projs? they are modded! in halo three there is a way to spawn proj's as scen's (maybe their tag names are not proj and scen, but you get the idea.)
i presume that they set the projectile to not spawn at start! <_< you know...

Well, some coder said he found Brute AI code in both Halo 2 and 3 maps. So it might have something to do. Plus, it has been more or less proven that it does not require LIVE or even a LAN or even internet for it to happen. And various levels seem to have their own brand of ghost. Like Sandtrap, with a Spartan Laser and sword ghost.

Creepiest one I have seen is on Avalanche, where there is footprints in the snow, yet there is nobody there and he melees a player to death. Then he permanently disappears.

Sometimes if you throw a grenade JUST before entering monitor form, the grenade will stay with you until you transform back into player form.

Interesting stuff.

Did you know that if you stick yourself in forge mode and then turn into a monitor you can fly around without the nade going off. when you turn back though the nade will go off.

Lol. Yeah.

Me and my cousins were at my house for christmas, and we made a map in foundry that represented an urban enviroment, got several friends to play in it, and setup teams. Red team was the USMC, and blue team were the terrorists. We made everyone have no shields and die in one hit, and the red team would have to kill the monitors before they blew up. It was fun.

Keywords. Learn to see them.

I know about that. It also works with momentum from grav lifts.

Well, back on topic, any ideas? No? Well, until anybody has anything relevant to say, I think we should stop posting in this topic.
