Mac Gaming Mods

I've been a massive fan of Indie rock/ Indie music in general for a while now, and apparently it gained some attention. For the most part, people consider indie rock to be pretentious and self important, which it is not. The bands are simply there to make music, and the whole 'mainstream music is bad' idea is defined by the listeners of the music, not the bands themselves. Yet that is only one end of the indie spectrum. The other end seems to be people such as myself, who enjoy the indie music scene, but hate the assholes known as hipsters.

More OT: I am now considered a hipster by everyone I know because I enjoy bands such as The Strokes, Kaiser Chiefs, MGMT and Vampire Weekend. I hope to god I am not.

What does MGM think?

Yeah, I like shit like Metric and Vampire Weekend is fucking baller bra. I agree that hipsters are fucking stupid, they're people looking for an excuse to be cool and they don't do it very well. I listen to Metric/Stars/Broken Social Scene/Franz Ferdinand etc because i want to, not because they're not completely mainstream. If I start a band, are we hipster music until we sign onto a label? Fuck no. The only reason hipster music is "underground" is because they suck and nobody wants to listen to them.

I think the true hipster has disappeared, as the whole concept of indie music has gone mainstream itself.

Anyways, made this topic while mad and questioning my own self worth.

hipster has turned from "oh hey this band is pretty cool shame noone really listens to them" to "oh hey listen to this band because noone else does hurrhurrhurr"

like whatever listen to whoever you goddamn want and especially if they're unknown, get the word out about them.
