Mac Gaming Mods

Hey Guys, I had this amazing idea, and im already putting it into action.

As we evolve into a more advanced community, we need of course, more to do, and as always, tuts on how to do them.

With an ever slowly diminishing line of users, its always good to pep up and advertise MGM, to either bring back old modders, or to bring in new ones (inb4 nubs...)

So, without Further Ado, I give you the Official MacGamingMods youtube channel.

What I, the jester brothers, and anyone who wants to contribute are going to be doing, is making Videos on released mods (mod Trailers, Mod Promos, etc) Video tutorials on Modding, and helpful modding tip videos.

What i need from you guys is,

1. I need a Background for the youtube channel, Something fancy and epic.

2. A Few people who are willing to make a few videos for the community.

Anyone can make videos! if you want a video uploaded to the page, send them to me via PM, i will screen them, and if they pass the inspection (the tuts accuracy, video quality, music copyright) i will upload them to the youtube, and give them to monoman to upload here.

I would just make vids for MGM to be here only, but that wont get use known, we need youtubes self advertising.

Let me make clear that this is NOT machinima, its a Channel for Modding Tutorials, Modding Info, and Basic Halo News to Spread the word on how awesome halo modding is. And to enlarge our community. Yes nubs will come, as they have, but some learn faster and others, and some, like AL Capwn, Modzy, who joined barely a year ago, became great modders. It may have not been I who got them here, but still, they found us, and they enjoy it here... or at least i hope they do lol.

Anyway, lemme resay that this is NOT MACHINIMA, just helpfull tuts and info and such advertising halo mac modding .

once more, no acting, no voicing, etc. this is not a machinima were making.

Video Requirements.

Video Resolution:

Prefferably 848 x 480

Good quality res, and enables youtube HQ. Although the iPod export setting will work fine.

How to chance Res?

Go to Export Settings in iMovie or Quicktime, select MPEG-4, Select edit settings, go to size, Make the Size Custom, and type in the values, which is 848 by 480.

Select keep resolution by "cropping"

that makes it widescreen without smooshing your video.

And thats pretty much it, it must be clear, and have at least a 2000 kb/s bitrate.


Anything else you guys want cleared up, simply ask below.

When you make a video tutorial, at the Begining of the video clearly say the following

"Hello! This is (insert name here) from MacGamingMods to show you how to (Insert Tut title here).


And the rest is you, please refrain from cursing or being vulgur, kids will be watching this.

This is interesting. I was thinking about putting some tutorials that show some incredible accomplishments in the field of weaponry but using only meta and d-swap changes. In fact, I have 3-4 videos that need to be edited, by my HD just doesnt have the space for any more (somehow the videos are just above youtube high quality and still are in the 300-800 MB for less than a minute of video. WTH?) They were filmed with SnapzPro and I honestly have no idea what kind of compression/formatting they were put through. If anyone has a better way of filming and good settings that keep the size below 500MB/min I will be very, very thankful. I have lots of things to share and it really would suck to have to type them all. Also, I cant capture Halo audio >_<


**possibly someone could film the mod for me and I could show the editing (i like showing the progress of the mod, though - it would be the mod shown in different stages of completion) and I would dub over it later

@002: its nice, but I think it needs a more mac-like feel. Ill work on something and get back to this topic in a while
