Just Halo CE setup

Post by Blind » Wed Dec 21, 2016 8:30 pm

Is it possible/ or is there a setup for the original Xbox halo CE multiplayer. I know a bunch of folks that would get on and game it.

The original maps.
Start up with only pistol and AR
Timing on power ups.

Simple yet awesome. Can anyone do that?

Sure!

For your gametypes, set it to use generic weapon spawns on default/classic weapons.

For timing, as of SAPP 9.7, there is the command disable_timer_offsets. Put disable_timer_offsets 1 in your SAPP init.txt file and it will use the original Xbox timings.

If you want frag grenades to work the same as Xbox, put this in your events.txt:

Code: Select all

event_spawn $pn>4 'nades $n 2 1'
event_spawn $pn<=4 'nades $n 4 1'
That way if there are 4 players or less ingame, you will start with a loadout of four frag grenades. Otherwise, two frag grenades.

There is a stock 'Classic Slayer Pro' gametype variant for Slayer that might match some of what you want, else see what 002 said.
I am no longer active to Halo or MGM, and don't guarantee a response on the forums or through email. I will however linger around the discord room for general chatting. It's been fun!

Oh, also, if you want the original maps, you will need to buy the game.

If you buy the Mac version, you'll want the Universal Binary version, as the original PowerPC version will not run on Intel-based Macs (any Mac made since 2006, basically) unless you are running 10.4 to 10.6 with Rosetta installed. The map files are the same regardless of the version you use (UB, PPC, Windows).

If you buy the Windows version, you'll need Windows to install it. Alternatively, you can use a program such as Keka to unarchive the installer to your desktop.
