dude the reason that sounds noob, is because you can probably just search the forum and find it yourself without asking...

You need to ask the right people at the right places. The MGM forums probly aren't the place. I would recomend the clanhalo modding forum, since it's a bit more noobier and alot of questions, like yours, pop up there.

I'm sorry no one has been able to grow up and just give you the link without reveling in their own "status" just some common courtesy would be nice once in a while wouldn't it :?

Alright. For tutorials like the one I am going to give you you can find them at the top of the forum which this topic is in, they have little green orbs to the left of them.

viewtopic.php?t=1399

Scroll down a bit and there you have it. One problem, last time i checked the link to the full version bloodguch map was dead, so you will have to get the full version map or just the first 800 bytes from someone else, I do not have it.

Here is the full version bloodgulch file. I also updated the full version links in the tutorial topic.

Cool, thanks alot Monoman.
But I still am having problems with swapping the headers, the futthest i have got is being able to edit the map in HMT, then I tried to swap the headers back and it did not work, now I cant even get HMT to edit the file, i dont know what i am doing wrong.

Here are the steps I take:

I copy and paste my original unmodified bloodgulch demo map to the desktop and rename it "D" for Demo header.

Then I rename the full version map with the full version header F for, can you guess? Full version header.

After that I right click on the full version map and from the menu that pops down I click "OPEN WITH>OTHER" after that I choose hexedit and i check the box that says "always open with", then i click the blue glowing open button, at this point, the icon for the full version map turns into a gray rectangle (i dont know why).

After that I open the demo version map which i have already set to open with hex in the past.

Then I highlight the first 800 bytes of the demo map, switch to the full map and highlight the first 800 bytes of it, then copy the 800 bytes from the full and paste 'em into the demo. I then save the demo map and two versions appear on my desktop, the edited, looks the same, and the non backup version has a "~" at the end.

After all that I open HMT, click the load button and choose the demo map that I just edited, and all HMT does is take up 100% processor power and turns up the fans from then on, it never opens the map, I have left it for 20 minutes this way and nothing happens.

HELP! ITS SO FRUSTRATING IM DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT AND IT WONT WORK!

I think it might be a computer problem... However, a Mac with fans that are audible. Must be a big one. So maybe its not the computer. Try re-downloading HMT or try using HHK. Also, what kind of computer are you on?

PS: There is an easier way to open up the demo in HMT using a 4 byte edit (sword said this somewhere). I believe it involves changing something from 07 to 06. Ha! Here we go:

http://modhalotrial.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=398
sword wrote:0x588 has the short 06 which most likely represents the map version number. In the full version it is 07, in xbox its 05 and in halo CE its something else. Halo Demo will not accept maps unless there is 06 there.

So go to that part in the file and change it from 06 to 07. I believe this is what sword meant by a one-byte change. Just remeber to change it back or Halo Demo wont load it.

Opening in HHK means changing 24 bytes overall. Opening in HMT means a 4 byte change.
The sword.

And there you have it. Although, you could do it the old fashoined way and replaace all 800 so it works in both.
