Halo Third person?

Does anyone know of any simple way to make halo in third person(viewing the player from the back instead) instead of first person? It would be great if there's an answer to this. By the way, I'm hoping that the method DOESN'T require CE.

Eh, might be out of Date, but The Cheat was the only way to create a third person POV.
And, if memory serves, you had to jump in and out of the game or some such to enable it.

I see...looks like this won't be as easy as I think it is. Thanks anyway!

This has never worked for me. I just tried it again out of curiosity yesterday, even trying to get the value manually but had no luck.
Does the map have to be bloodgulch?

Shouldn't make a difference.

I just tried to enable the third person manually, and it still works.
1. Find the 8-bit integer value:
0 = 1st person view
1 = 3rd person view
2 = out of game
3 = dead view
Do not search for 1st person view first (searching initially for 0 is a bad idea). I suggest first searching for 3rd person view (when you're in a warthog). Then just narrow down results from there.
2. Follow Modzy's instructions about subtracting 0x2 and writing a 32-bit integer 0 and what not from the thread he linked.
3. Go in a warthog and get out and you have third person eventually. By eventually, I mean, I had to try going into a warthog and out at least 20 times until I was finally able to enable it. So this is the trickiest part.

To do this in CE, I think you would have to create a new biped and set the #head marker to behind the actual head, and also create a new camera track. So headshots would be pretty impossible if you aimed for the head of the spartan model. I tried doing this with the metadata editor in Eschaton (using my plugins? I don't recall...) and my camera track hypothesis didn't "pan" out (heh, camera/gold mining pun in one!).

Well headshots would be exactly the same, it's the materials that designate headshot areas if i recall!

So putting it simply, you are trying to say that using CE is one of the only ways to make a biped with a third person view 'permanently'(which means that it will automatically be in third person without using the Cheat)?

There are mac modeling programs and tools. These are found at HDM also on the tools page. However, the last time I used those -- as Dirk would guess -- was before I had such experience with modding and the HEK methods. "With the right tools..." should be a motto, but what about experimentation? Go ahead and read the
HEK Manual, then experiment with markers and models in programs like Blender or Wings3D.
