Unlike the other games here, this will hopefully let you learn something new about Halo Demo!

Every week there will be a new question. The first person who answers correctly will get:
  1. The right to put the official HMQ pic in their sig/website/etc.
    Image
  2. Verification links for their sig/website/etc.
  3. Random prizes to help you mod, such as tags, models, etc. Subject to availability. :P
If you have suggestions for questions, please PM me!

Starting question: How many ways are there to make a one-hit kill in the normal Blood Gulch, with normal shields? (List all correctly to win)

falling, plasma grenades stuck, rocket, vehicle ramming, changing teams (in ctf), restarting game, close range shotgun (like really close), assinations, telefragging, headshot with a sniper and if we are counting all vehicles, shell from a scorpion.

That, what Kayar said, and a melee to the back.

Sorry Lumps, you're a little too late. :P

For this round, Falabmaja wins:
  1. The right to use the HMQ pic.
  2. A link to this post to verify his win.
  3. No modding resources yet cuz I haven't made anything that isn't public.
Next question: How do you disable assassinations?

Null melee damage.

Alternatively, mess with coll.

Prize is not very appealing..

Uh... I never posted in this topic? At all?

Anyway, none of flabby's answers have anything to do with modding the map. Though, you did say "normal bloodgulch.map," so I assume you meant non-modding answers? But then, doesn't that defeat the purpose of a "Halo Modding Quiz?"

As for your question, null melee damage, tick the "not instantly killed by melee" flag in bipd tag, null cyborg coll (unadvised), give the cyborg bipd the vehi foot tag (makes it invincible), turn the cyborg into something else using the c_storage antr (you can then change the mod2 and coll to whatever you want, it also makes the cyborg invincible)...

Look. I don't see the point to this little "quiz." You're relatively new, and even if you weren't, none of us can truly know all the possible ways of doing one thing. There are THOUSANDS of ways to do your first question if you think in modding terms. I'm not going to sit on my ass here for hours telling you a billion ways of doing things to answer a question you probably don't have the full answer to either anyway.

Ram with any vehicle, headshot with a sniper, a direct hit with a rocket launcher, a shotgun blast to the face, melee in spine, the spider technique (plasma grenade on helmet), free falling, scorpion shell, and rocket 'hog rocket.

To null getting hit in the back??

Turn around or null the melee damage.

Null melee damage, or in the melee's jpt!, turn off "Lethal to the Unexpecting" in Side Effect.

There's a bitmask somewhere in the bipd tag, too, I think.

Firstly, sorry Kayar, got you mixed up with Seabeast...

And, this could be something used for himself to gain Halo Modding knowledge.

Questions from Modzy: What is, in hexadecimal, the first Tag ID of the Index array in all normal maps?

I meant normal BG because it's about modding - not about other people's mods. Learning about how Halo works by default will help us to change key game elements to make our mods different from the default Halo.

And I didn't ask for all the ways to do it; I asked how to do it. As far as I know, nulling melee damage does not work. Only
wernarner84 wrote:or in the melee's jpt!, turn off "Lethal to the Unexpecting" in Side Effect.
or
Kayar wrote: tick the "not instantly killed by melee" flag in bipd tag,
seems to work, assuming you don't try something that needs more than 1 step, although the first is a lot longer because you have to do it for each melee jpt!. As for my first question, that's the reason why I said it's based on a normal BG; there aren't that many ways to kill someone in one hit in an unmodded BG.

I know I'm relatively new, but I never intended to do this alone,
2310 wrote: If you have suggestions for questions, please PM me!
and I don't intend to always use short answer questions; I'll have multiple choice questions and true/false questions.

And I'm still not as new as a lot of people - I've been here a lot longer than the time I registered.

Also, is there a point to viewtopic.php?f=40&t=8820? It's not meant to be a comprehensive exam of modding, but there are still things that some people don't seem to know (including me) and this is hopefully a good way of helping MGMers to learn.

For example, if you enable "Lethal to the unexpecting" in a bullets jpt! people will instantly die when you shoot them in the back, even with full overshields unlike headshots? (Wait ... was that the answer to my next question? Guess I'll have to use another ...)

If you have any suggestions on this quiz, let me know!

-2310

P.S. Suggestions on questions will be given full credit if used, and you don't need to tell me the answer if you don't want to.

P.P.S This round's winner is Kayar! You get exactly the same prizes as the above because I had to reply to this instead of making a tag.

Next Question: Do sniper rifles always fire with no error (i.e. in the center of the reticule)? (True/false)

EDIT: @Modzy: Excellent question! I'll use it next, because I composed this message before you posted.
