I want to take out the island itself, not the water....will nulling out the BSP also null the water?

Give it a go.
Duplicate the map before making any huge changes though

Yes, I believe the water's part of the bsp.

Technically, the part you shoot at and water flies up is a fog plane. Which, although is part of the SBSP tag, is not part of the BSP model or collision model; it's independent.

So, it will be awkward?

like the water will only be supported by a fog plane, not the actual BSP?

Like, It'll be one giant plane of purple fog extending into infinity. No water shaders. Although if shot, water will fly up.

If you build it far enough out, there should already be an invisible Barrier below the water that will keep players out.
