Re: All's Quiet on the Western Front
Religion = how people socially behave towards God or believed dieties
Spirituality = God, heaven, spirits... anything that can be witnessed that is not truly in the physical realm
Most people think about religion and politics as debate topics, but I don't see anyone debating spirituality. As far as I see it, everyone witnesses similar phenomena and attribute different meanings to them, and decide to make up their own religions.
My logic is that if I believe in myself at all - even if I believe that I exist - then I must believe in God who created me and the rest of the universe. I believe with the same conviction that God exists and that I exist, because how can I firmly believe that I exist and not believe that I was created along with all other things? After all, each of us was born from a human woman. And what about those many millions of people throughout time who have seen or heard God, Jesus or angels? Are they all suffering from some sort of dementia? I don't believe that technology or science has the answers to the spiritual realm, but only the physical realm. And it doesn't make sense that the creator of the universe would exist only in thought-form, like in my head, as if I were delusional like all those other witnesses.
I was not able to ascertain if you were agreeing with the "classic argument" you mentioned. In my opinion, I do not assume that any state of my being contradicts the existence of God, because if I were to say that because I smoke and die from lung cancer God does not exist, then someone could just say, "God did not intend for you to smoke, you made a bad decision", or "God made suffering so that you would avoid the things that lead to your demise, but you just ignored all those chest pains you had that warned you of your cancer", or even that all people have free will and were made that way. We were made to be able to suffer and to be happy, and to be in any other emotion-driven state you can perceive.
I think Monk and Amy had it right, let's move on to other discussions. My main reasons for presenting this were to respond to depression and to imply that this is something that I am spending time on when not otherwise contributing to the Halo Demo modding community.
EDIT: Furthermore, if I trust in myself alone, I know that I will die. No human can save himself from death; we all die and turn to dust once more. None of us can save our bodies, so how can we expect to be able to save our souls? But I'm telling you that faith is required before understanding, which you already know. You say that you trust and have faith in science, because you were taught that way by other people. In school, we learn about nature, and we are told to have an invested interest and faith in science, that is, in human understanding of the universe. Why have faith in human understanding and not have faith in the understanding of the one who made all humans and the entire universe? God calls himself the Alpha AND the Omega, that is, not only did he exist to create whatever phenomenon took place at the start of all motion and time, but he exists still now and will exist even at the end of all motion and time. What logic says that the God who created would perish? Or is there anything that God created that would be able to kill him? Have faith then in the one who created all of the universe and all of the spiritual realm also. Matter can only affect matter - our bodies can only affect the bodies of ourselves and others. Don't trust in that which will perish and turn to dust. Trust in that which will last forever. Invest in a faith in God, not in science. Learn about God who created science, and you will have a better means of understanding science. Know the author and the reason for the book will become clear to you.
Finally, I am not trying to change you. I am giving you a sword if you will wield it. I can only show you the sword and offer it to you; it is up to you whether or not you will wield this sword of truth. Choose wisely, but please do not be offended at my offer; you were right in your assessment of my intentions.

Either you are groping for answers, or you are asking God and listening to Jesus.

"But the sword is REALLY FUCKING AWESOME"
Doesn't represent sparky's or my own opinion... just wanted to add that in there
But uh, yeah. Personally I haven't been doing much halo at all, I've been working on the campaign of reach on legendare offline, and occasionally I do some starcraft II but most of my free time is spent talking with my irl friends. Anything on the internet is me working on my next live action (which will kick ass, I have a whole team together) and me working with my friend from arkansas who's doing some stuff for X-Plane that i'm a part of. But I'm really off the grid here. I try and stay in contact with you guys but eventually I'll gtfo of here for a while.

Re: All's Quiet on the Western Front
We should be getting a lot more traffic within a few weeks after Monoman implements some easy SEO changes I suggested for this site. I should also optimize the HDM homepage so that we can be up there at the top of the related Google search results also. When we link to each other after our sites are optimized, then our Google Page Rank will go even higher. ("Page" here refers to Larry Page.)
Either you are groping for answers, or you are asking God and listening to Jesus.
Re: All's Quiet on the Western Front
Hm, if I got off my ass and worked on that MUD for the irc then that would increase activity at least a little bit. I'm just a lazy asshole who doesn't appreciate a chance to make something awesome when he's given it. >_< I'll work on it... now that I've developed more or less a schedule here at college I should be able to find time each day...
