To make a Hackintosh most people get a copy of OSx86, whether it's cheap or not I dunno. Then I think you get a copy of OS X and install. Of course you can emulate to get the "Classic" feel. If you want a classic emulator and have a system disk i suggest vMac.

you just need to download a patched version of OSX (leopard or tiger) from demonoid or thepiratebay then you have to copy onto a CD and install, but beware, it erases everything off ur windows. ( its pretty much like bootcamp because you reformat your HD and pick how much space you want for it ) then you have to fix windows by poppping in the backup/install cd and recover it. on a hacintosh you cant go higher than 10.5.2 at the moment because its really glitchy and can fuck up ( to tell you the truth, every version of hacintosh has compatablity probllems and its glitchy except for tiger) to install you also need to know your windows pc very well such as your mother board time, graphics card etc because u need to know this when you install OSX cause you have to select some options regarding your computer or it wont work.

Did it have hardware similar to tat of a mac, like in a Eee? Or were the insides quite different?

well it was an HP, the hardware was pretty much like the old macbooks, 2Ghz intel core duo processor 3gigs of ram and it had an intel X3100 graphics card. but everything else was differenct ofcourse, motherboard etc.

I've done a ton of research on netbook Hackintosh's, and from what I've read they're generally really well suited for some of the older OSX versions.

Yep, I've turned a few comp's into hackintosh's a few years ago. Back when one had to do it the hard way, patching the specific kext files, and installing via a linux live dvd with the osx image on it... Took like 3 weeks on average to get one working flawlessly.

Never could get those standard wireless cards working though. O_o

I know a guy who made his MSI wind a hackintosh. It works quite well.

MSI Wind's don't need to be hacked to do it >.>
In fact you can order it from the company to have OS X default on it.
