Batteries for days, kids!

Post by Noodle » Sun Sep 18, 2011 6:17 pm

So, my Macbook has decided that batteries are mainstream and it will not conform.

About three months ago my laptop was giving me a "service battery" warning, so I replaced the battery. Now, three months later, my battery has decided to apparently die and my laptop says "replace now". Whenever I disconnect the power cable the laptop shuts down immediately. I can still use my computer but it's IMMENSELY inconvenient.

When I had my iBook I never had to change the battery once in it's five year service life. I feel as if this can be fixed, but maybe that's just me. Ideas?

that happened to my mothers which I used a lot. At first it would shut down the internet and then in 1 minute or so the computer would shutoff. Now when it falls out it shuts off immediatly. Just get a new computer, thats what I did. The standard macbook pro is 1200, and it runs great. $50 for 8 gig ram.

My Macbook is a mid-07 one, and I replaced quite a few parts already. I replaced the keyboard 3 times, the screen once, the memory, and hard disk twice. The battery once, because it held about 2 hours of charge on standby when unplugged with no apps running. I bought all my parts in China, before I moved back, so it was rather unexpected when my battery is now "Service battery" but meh.

My battery deteriorated rapidly over the course of two months to the point that coconutBattery registered its max capacity at 9%... Yeah, sure. It charged in 2 minutes, but thats as long as the charge lasted on battery >_>
Windows is worse because it NEVER goes into sleep mode when you close it -_-

But luckily I turned it into a repair shop 5 days before the warranty expired. And now its up at 95-99%, which is normal. Hooray. First thing I did was play Borderlands on a 1.5 hour long car ride. HELL. YES.

Oh yeah, sorry for your battery though.

^^^
And that right there sort of sums up the real problem... The don't really give warranties on the battery itself, do they? If they did, at least you could guarantee a working battery.

Does applecare not cover batteries? Either way, with the new inability to remove the battery I feel there is likely some warranty for them.

Yes, the inability to remove batteries does make it somewhat difficult to simply buy a new battery...
