Two not so little bits of Awesome.

Post by Devious » Fri Feb 26, 2010 10:53 am

As some of you know I am a member of the 405th, a prop-making group whose main focus is making halo armor though we also build iron man, fallout, warhammer and starwars costumes and weapons. Many many excellent props are made there of movie quality but quite often nothing is really done with these fantastic creations. Then some of the more skilled members got together and started making their own indie movies with the fantastic resources at the 405th.

Project #1

The founders of this site are from a company called Blue Realm; it is a professional prop-making company. They have teamed up with several movie makers to make a low budget Sci-Fi / WWII movie called project arbiter. The films site can be found at: http://www.projectarbiter.com I highly suggest you read the trailer before calling it phail.
Project Arbiter is a sci-fi espionage story that demonstrates how a small quiet victory tips the balance of power and foretells the outcome of World War II. Created by a group of passionate and innovative filmmakers, the Project Arbiter team is skilled at mastering limited resources while aspiring to high professional standards, especially with regard to the end result, the quality of what you experience on-screen. We hope you will join us in realizing our goal to make a rich and compelling short film.

Set in 1943, the height of WWII, this is a story about an experimental O.S.S. unit code named Project Arbiter. Thousands of feet above Northern Europe a small plane carries a skeleton crew of the Allies best, including Special Fields Op. Captain Joseph Colburn. His handler, Major Thomas Hardy does a final review of the mission’s grim intel: infiltrate a mysterious villa on the Polish border and uncover its secrets. Colburn emerges donning a prototype suit, which can temporarily render its occupant invisible. As the plane’s bay doors howl open Colburn begins to put on the skull-faced helmet when the plane is rocked by an anti-aircraft shell. Rapidly losing air pressure and altitude, now there’s no question... this is a one-way mission.

Project #2

Though there are more then 10 halo fan films in the planning process at the 405th only one shows serious promise. It is called Operation chastity scheduled to start filming summer this year the props and resources seen pooled for the movie are fantastic they have even gone so far as to build their own warthog. They can be found at http://www.operationchastity.com, I suggest you read their website thoroughly to see just some of the awesome they have made for this project.

Operation Chastity is perhaps one of the most ambitious fan projects ever undertaken. Operation Chastity is a planned feature film set in the Halo universe, centring on a platoon of Recon Marines of the 267th Marine Regiment. They operate in Argentina within a UNSC cordon, set up around the wreckage of the CCS-class battlecruiser “Chaste Ascendancy” following its crash-landing on Earth. Operation Chastity is their last mission in this forgotten part of the Human-Covenant War.

The film is running on an estimated budget of £30,000, and is due to be filmed in Summer 2010. It is being helmed by Peter Cooper, a British Halo fan and first-time film maker. The film is being crewed by passionate fans and film makers from all around the world, reaching from the production’s home of Britain to as far as the USA and Singapore. We’re building a Warthog. We’re crafting Marine and Spartan armour. It’s a massive undertaking. But entirely worthwhile.
I hope you take the time to look at all the hard work put into these two projects, they both have huge potential.
The armaments which thunderstrike the walls
And monarchs tremble in their capitals.
The oak leviathans, whose huge ribs make
Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war;
Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.

I think project arbiter would be more awesome if they were making arbiter's armor instead. But thats just my opinion.

The 405th frequently has problems like that, try again soon and it should work. You won't be disappointed.
