Well, I had a slow iBook and this integrated graphics MacBook. Not too good for playing those games. I did get to use the latest MacBook Pro a few months ago for "running windows for learning C++ coding". Pretty much means I played EvE for a month, as well as the Prey, Doom, and a few other demos. Twas fun.Modzy wrote:I don't have the money for a new Mac. All I've got is my two year old iMac which still runs like champ and can run any game on the market.
But, for a bit more of a speed boost for Snow Leopard, I just ordered some new RAM.
I'll be going from 2 GB DDR2 600MHz to 4GB DDR2 800MHz.
Should be a fun ride.

Wow... Your ram is faster than my cpu speed, by 100mhz.
I'm trying to sell this thing, or trade it for an older ibook. For what I've been doing lately, I need the convenience of being able to carry it around with me.
Heh, I won't be seeing it in action anytime soon. :<

Re: Mac OS X Snow Leopard
ive been eagerly awaiting wwdc for months, and they did not dissapoint, if you look on the mac pros, youll see that if you max it out completely with 8 cores, 32GB ram etc, they actually knocked off 10k off the price!
Every year macs become faster, snappier and more affordable.
the 1500 i have now unfortunatly is going to my ford probe, but after i buy that, im buying a macbook pro with a solid state drive
!
and snow leopard as the OS

Bringing it down to a reasonable $126,4970.62Fonzie wrote:they actually knocked off 10k off the price!
True, true, and I wish. See, the costs really only come down on models that don't sell very much. See the MP you just mentioned, see the first gen Macbook Air's upper model. See the Apple Tv. Apple has been doing less price reducing and more mapping their products to different price brackets. They just add less expensive, less awesome versions. See the first 1GB iPod Nano, the new 15inch 1.7k MBP, and the remaining white Macbook. The 2k MBP has similarly positioned specs, relative to its competitors and other MBPs, to the early '08 model I bought a year ago. On popular items, Apple doesn't need to lower its prices, obviously, so it doesn't. It just makes the line more available to other people by releasing different models.Fonzie wrote:Every year macs become faster, snappier and more affordable.

Exaggerating on purpose, but thanks. Next times I have an extra 23 grand lying around, I know what to do with it. Hehe
Re: Mac OS X Snow Leopard
The biological comparison of leopard and snow leopard makes both OSs the same ¬_¬
