I remember reading about this mod awhile ago. It looks cool, can't wait to test it out. I wonder if the bugs are remodelled rebels or if they are a vehicle model.

Alien Enemies.

Post by Pointillist » Fri Oct 20, 2006 8:15 am

I've been playing with this intensively and it's a blast...
I love the movement, spiderlike.......

I was at first disappointed that the "missions" are
just showcases.......I haven't been able to get the
flying bugs to move at all...but there's great possibilities.....

Yeah the bug is an .atr file, not a vcl...........
but (i think) i added the suspension file of a vcl....
changed the gun to the Usual tank gun....increased the firing rate
to 25000....and now when the alien "groans" it slaps down a mess o' death.
Adding the vcl data to the atr file gives one a Most stable shootong
platform.......

Because next I added an alien or two (with team camoflauge)
to the heros file so I could get the first person experience.
Awesome.......bizarrely.......GR started reading All the data files
a little more closely...it seemed like the recoils were closer to
what i had set them at, etc...........

Well now my problem is (as usual) that I have the enemy so souped
up they're invulnerable. Oh yeah I made them a little larger.....
I've tried making them 4.8 times larger.....about three stories tall...
and Cruise would be happy with their Martianlike appearance.
Along with the big guys I made a whole bunch of little ones....
I have their speed set at 450 (miles or kilometers?).
Sppoky as hell to see them all move down the street
pursuing you......oh I had to add a stance = 1 line to the missions
or they get kinda blobby not spidery.

My favorite mission is one I ripped off from the Assassination
mission....a caravan of tanks and nazi vehicles arrives full of lazy
alien drivers.......which I combined with the Mission that starts
in the hotel (i added a large fire to get things moving at
intromission) and everyone rushes into the hotel.....
it's dark and the sudden appearance of the aliens is So scary.....i felt like shatner in the twilightzone episode where the gremlin is on the
plane wing and only he sees it....until they land.

Oh and the coolest thing is that the hero aliens have wicked
ability to accept any weapon I've thrown at them so far.
Oh the "nova" reticle is Quite nice...try "adding" it to your
favorite reticule. The nova missile is remodeled and is
awesomeresponsive.....finally one worthy of offplanet
skirmishes................

I'm working on a special "bank" taking textures from
various industrial maps and the metal bulletholes are most
satisfying....i replaced the safe deposit boxes with cages.....
and walking into the vault filled with little skitterish bugs is
breathtaking. But when I was playing the embassy map
I realized the Ultimate would be walking into the basement
garage and having to wipe out The Nest....heh heh.
I've been able to stuff nearly a hundred enemies down
there in a coupla missions, using Tim's advice of
using the "hidden" command. Great fun.

Still have to get those bugs to fly.
And make one a hero. :!:

Oh yeah...i took the data from the
combat model file and added it to the atr file.....increased the armor to neartank quality so it's harder to bring them down.

Does ANYONE know where the POV file is?
I remember mauti arguin about how tall the point of view should be.......the limitation of pov
makes all players the same height thankyouberrymuch
and keeps any creative changes from being made.
I have a set of tiny robots that work Great, but i
can't change their pov. They still think they're four feet tall.

HOWEVER, when a large alien dies....for just five seconds....
your pov shoots up to wherever it is accurately set for.....
even if it's two stories tall............this has Got to be a setting.

The mod was released as unfinished. Meaning the creator probably didn't have anymore time to work on it but didn't want to waste all the work that was done.

well it shouldn't be unfinished... i mean there are missions where there are just movies and one missions where there are a few bugs that u massacre with a machine gun.

PS: I really hope the creator of this mod will finish it!!

Yeah i agree, it needs a lot of work
but I think it'll be worth it....the shooting platform
as a first person experience is awesome....none
of that human flopping around. The four legged brain
is remarkably more complicated than a bipod.

So I've got the "grasshoppers" to fly, but they're invisible.
I just added an altitude to the path and my guys started firing
into the air trying to hit it. It was invisible until the pilot was
killed and then you could see him flying through the air.

And i haven't solved the point of view problem.

There HAS to be a way to adjust it properly.

(We could upload converted missions but there should be a
central Decider to determine what's Right.....heh heh.)

mods from movies

Uhhhhhh....i don't think so.
I think I remember seeing a post that they were
redirecting their interests and releasing the work that
was done.....

A"campaign" would require a stated scenario, at the least......
and an order to the maps to be used.

I remember Chris Titus and Busey and a couple of the other
actors talking to me about how Serious they were about getting
a Fully Marketable Movie Series...I think it kinda got away from them
when the sequel package came along......

Samuel Jackson was on Stewart recently talking about
ther Snakes on a Plane movie....industry gossip had Jackson saying
it's about big (..."f'in"...) snakes on a big (..."f'in"...) plane....
and Stewart said, "...and you Didn't sign the sequelpackage contract!!?"
And Samuel falls out screaming, "No!....so I can make a Fortune!"

Because IF you sign the sequel package deal when you sign yer
First deal....it's usually just a rider several pages down......you
agree to a set salary limit......Producer usually makes it mandatory or they'll just go to the next actor.......and if the series goes Paladium
the Producer makes the cash.....they call that the justifiable return for taking the financial risk on an artistic project.

Titus came round and said they finally Had to agree to sign
over control over the sequels to get the backing. The corner has been
turned however from a SAG point of view.....Jackson didn't Have to sign the Rider and now he can negotiate his salary anew.

Personally I'd like to see Snakes on a Shuttle.
Ooooh....Snakes ona Sub. Snakes on Air Force One...
has to be scheduled for an Oct 2008 release....they showed me
how you have to schedule That first thang......before you pay for the
script....and That's the bottleneck.

'Course George Lucas' digital system Could crak the bottle altogether....
Redford said that at This stage Sundance is meaningless.....but he's
So hardcore cutting edge.....he's always Right, but it usually takes the
rest of us ten years to catch up to him.

Have you seen Utube?....Google paid 1.5 bill for it last week.
It's sweet....instant, no lag, no ads. Oh see.....the Revolution
WILL be televised.

As soon as we can afford one of those new cameras.

But seriously....a bunch of utube "ads" of Good Moments of GR
might bring in some cash for development.....

ummmm wat has Snakes on a plane got to do with GhR???

snakes are to blame

The snakes have that look in the eye that angers all ghosts.

Karl Rove served fine Austrian chocolate to the reporters
on Air Force One last week. Karl told me at my job interview
with him that he's Responsible for all the dirty tricks I complained
about in my book. He said "Your Time will come."
