1.3 Additions

Post by Monoman » Thu May 31, 2012 1:20 pm

What does everyone think of the new additions that will be introduced in the 1.3 update?

The idea I like the most is the ender chest and tripwires. I know the chests have been done before in mods but it still a good idea. I do like that the NPC villages will be different depending on the biome they are in.

I think it'd be interesting if they have a treehouse village in the rainforest/whatever the massive tree biome is.

You mean a jungle?

They just added temples like the pyramids, except with the tripwires and arrow traps and a puzzle. I think the loot sucks compared to a pyramid too.

I've built a jungle village in the trees on my main server :3
It's a city now. (And yes, it is pretty boss.)

They have biome-specific villages now. For the most part it just changes the block type used and maybe adds a small minipyramid or something. I can't remember if there's a specific one for jungles.

suggest having them in trees man

I think the jungle temples are a good fit and the traps in them. I don't like gaining xp for mining blocks. XP was the one thing that forced players to go out at night after mobs.

That's a good point, I love bothering to not use my bed or something if I want some good XP.

Some interesting things though:

- The nerd.nu / "Reddit mcpublic" Minecraft servers have extremely enhanced experience, but it will probably be disabled for the update
- I installed a Bukkit plugin on my server that gives XP for mining blocks, but all blocks. Still "only" forty levels in an hour.

Note though, Monoman, you only get experience for things like ores and not stone in vanilla 1.3.

I haven't tried using my furnace in the snapshots, how much experience do you get? I'll just be farming junk items in my furnace for experience if it's good enough.
