Plan for 1.8

1.8 was suppose to be out on the 8th and now looks to be pushed back to at least next week. When it is release the server will be switch to the test server. This will allow us to test all the new features in 1.8 and decide on a seed for the new world. My current idea for the seed is Mac Gaming Mods but I'll leave it up to you guys to decide. While the test server is up we will test out the mods and some new ones.

I know, lets right an overly complicated program to generate a long string of random alphanumerics and then seed itself with the results. Multiple times. And then do it again to get another, splice the two together in an alternating fashion and trim it to a random number between 50 and 100.

I thought this through too much. Instead, I will roll my face on the keyboard and call it a seed (no, im not kidding)

Yeah, not as much facerolling opportunity on a laptop keyboard. I tried to use the top of my head for the second and third parts. Still got the bottom row somehow...

Also, I spawned that world and teleported to 50000,0. Then to -50000,0. Then tried to fly back to 0,0 at 500 movespeed. Lagtastimatical. And I only got back by a few thousand blocks before giving up. Found a few cool places, but nothing that can't be generated by something else.

I may just go feed random seeds into Minecraft for 20 minutes and see if I can find something awesome.

Um, the minecraft dev team said not to hold onto seeds, as they will generate differently. Doesn't mean we can't pick a seed, just that we can't see what it may look like

Well, then I won't spend time making seeds then... Guess I'll just go play Borderlands now that Riot Games just flipped off their Mac playerbase.

Maybe I should get Terraria too. Building things is fun, but it would be nice if I had an ultimate goal that didnt involve creating thousands of furnaces and finding a way to stack them.
