Re: Simple 3D weapon models
Blender is mainly for 3D artists but it has way more options then sketchup. You really should try it. PS: It can open OBJ models. Re: Simple 3D weapon models
Yeah - SketchUp is a very idiosyncratic piece of software - until you realize that it was really designed for architects to use! I mainly do buildings (for maps) so branching out into more organic or mechanical shaped models really tests the tools this program has... http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3...

Re: Simple 3D weapon models
Blender renders things quite well, but I am not sure if it can take sktechup models. I've looked at the Blender web site a couple of time and it does look impressive. Sketchup can output in standard OBJ and 3DS files, so I guess if Blender can handle those I could import them into it and try a rend...

Re: Simple 3D weapon models
Were you using an image as a guide ti help you wit the details? Hi Devious - I could have done it that way, but as I had the actual gun at hand I just used the good old school ruler! LOL I will probably import the photo when I get a bit more done just to check overall proportions and make sure I ha...

Re: Simple 3D weapon models
Hello all! Thanks or the positive feedback... I use Google SketchUp 6 - mainly because it's free, and because I usually use it for architectural models. And I thought it might be a good idea to show you what the original on which the model is based - this is my airsoft electric gun (yes - sad to say...

Re: GameRanger supports PCs now? How's that working out?
Thanks for that Monoman, that seems like very good news - imagine that, playing on GameRanger on a PC! :D I guess the one practical thing about that is I can reload all my Ghost Recon using the PC 'Gold' release and it makes it a lot easier to install DS & IT (it always seemed a bit of a grind o...

GameRanger supports PCs now? How's that working out?
Once again I am at that almost annual point where I am toying with re-installing (yet again) Ghost Recon... But I hear that GameRanger now let's PC people play! Can someone tell me how that's been going? Will I *really* be able to pop back in and play with old Mac friends on Ghost Recon? (Are there ...

Simple 3D weapon models
Sorry if this isn't the kind of thing intended for this forum, but I've been messing around with some very basic 3D modeling - just for some fun! I started with a AK74M first of all, but part way through had a disaster with my hard drive and lost the file! :( This is as far as I got (colours were ju...

Re: GhR mod: Udmurtia Spetsnaz - fantastic!
----- pictures snipped ------ I like the mask on the top one and the load out on the second pic. Cheers! I wear the mask for when we are doing 'CQB' (close quater battle in houses) - as the BBs can really sting when you are hit close up! :) The camo on the bottom is called 'Fleckar D' and is a Russ...

Finally - I can host my own GR games!
I finally bought a new router/modem - my venerable Thompson modem (which I have had for years) finally died. I have had this DSL since I very first started with broadband - and it saw action playing on GameRanger on my old Mac! The downside of it was it was a pig to set u - changes were done via a c...

OK - some of you may find this sad, but I'm currently collecting real uniform bits and pieces to make up a 'Udmurtia Spetsnaz' outfit for my next airsoft outing! (For those that don't know, airsoft is kinda like paintball but using replica guns which fire plastic BBs.) I have picked a particular cha...

LOL - 'Huh?' indeed! This is a VERY old post - well before we knew about GRAW and GRAW2... At this point I was still thinking that there might be a 'Ghost Recon 3' (nothing to do with GRAW)... This goes with my theory that what a lot of GhR fans wanted wasn't GRAW at all but simply a graphical upda...

GhR mod: Udmurtia Spetsnaz - fantastic!
As you know - I only pop in probably once a year now. But I'm amazingly glad I have just done my annual 'visit macgamingmods' ritual as I found this great mod for Ghost Recon! Udmurtia Spetsnaz is a terrific modern Russian Army mod that has a set of wonderfully done Spetsnaz characters and Russian w...
